Working in Rhythms: The Power of Seasonal Productivity
In a world that often celebrates the hustle and glorifies non-stop productivity, I think it’s worth considering the idea that life actually happens in seasons. Working rhythms into your life is about syncing your efforts with the seasons of life, setting schedules that align with your lifestyle, and honoring the natural rhythms that exist within and around you. Want to know a little more about what that could look like? Let’s talk…
Getting creative when you’re not “a creative”
My least favorite thing to hear is “I’m not creative”. What people usually mean when they say “I’m not creative” is “I am not an artist,” “I am not a designer,” or “I am not a musician.”
Let's toss out that idea that creativity is reserved for a chosen few, because truth be told, it's something each one of us was made for! If you've ever said “I’m not creative” let's shake off those perceptions and start to tap into your own personal brand of creativity. Here's a simple and practical roadmap on how to start cultivating creativity in your life, even if you've never considered yourself a "creative" person.

Living Seasonally
Living seasonally is so important, especially when you live in a place extreme variances in temperature or daylight. Taking care of your body and wellness can be as simple as embracing the season you are in. Here are 4 simple ways to embrace the winter season ❄️
A Brand Refresh
Recently it hit me that I have been running Rose Color Creative for FOUR years, and I realized “wow, a lot has changed since 2018”
Not only has my business grown and changed, but I personally have grown and changed too! A lot of my work is a little different and I am focusing on fairly specific content and projects. While I still have the same core values, I started to realize that my brand wasn’t really reflecting my business’s full personality any longer.
I decided I need a refresh.
Year in Review & Goals for 2022
I know this is going to come off as cliché but let’s be honest, a lot of us at least think about setting goals for the new year.
This time of year we all start thinking about what lies ahead. I am absolutely no exception, but I think I have found a way to set some healthy goals for the coming year while also staying present, grateful and realistic about life’s ups and downs. Here I will show you how I do that in a creative and encouraging way, and give you a template so you can do the same!
Apartment Gardens
Want some tips from a complete amateur? Then you have come to the right place! I have been using this quarantine time to learn a bit more about my plants, and to continue my indoor gardening journey. This quote by Monty Don has resonated with me a lot during this time, because plants truly are such a sign of life and hope and joy! So here are a few things I have learned so far:
Creative Cross Training
Creative cross training is basically like regular cross training! When a runner is training for a marathon, they usually spend a couple days a week doing cross training, meaning they spend time cycling, swimming or doing some other type of workout. This training allows their body’s muscles to be activated in healthy ways that are different than just running. It helps other muscles get a workout, and prevents the muscles and joints they use for running from getting too fatigued.
8 Ways to Live Sustainably
I am by no means an expert on sustainable living. But what I am is a regular joe living a regular life like many of you, just trying to do my best to make better decisions. I think we all have so much room to grow. Trust me, I don’t reserve any time for shame on this journey and I don’t think you should either.
Sustainable Fashion
I have done a little research on some online shops where you can buy fair trade, sustainably made, organic, conscious, ethical, etc. clothing and other goods. I compiled a list here, but I encourage you to do your own research as well! Remember: the world doesn’t change because of a few people doing things perfectly. It changes when everyone does their best imperfectly.
VALENTINE BY DESIGN
Sometimes even the cheesiest, made-up traditions can create some really beautiful, well-loved design. Take Valentines day for example. Although our current, Americanized montages of red hearts and babies with wings are a far cry from the original meaning of the holiday, many creatives have chosen to feel the love, embrace the cheese, and be inspired by the heart shape that is shaped nothing like an actual heart.
WHY BEAUTY MATTERS
Design, for many, has become a sterile, problem-solving, task-based creature. We use terms like user- or human-centered, and we focus on aesthetic or style. As we have entered a digital age where function precedes (or determines) form more often than not, it's easy for us to forget that beauty itself is intrinsically human. So, we can't very well be human-centric, yet disregard beauty, right?
Letters
Calligraphy, Modern Calligraphy, Hand-Lettering, Typography… sheesh, the creative world is full of terms like this that we use and misuse to describe our various methods of visually representing words. Nowadays, these lines are beginning to blur, between the handmade and digital, and between these different ways of showcasing words and phrases.
Welcome
I am sure this blog will change and grow over time, but for now it will be an exploration of design in the context of culture, history, and our daily lives. Today, however, I have to confront the necessary evil of introducing myself and this new project/pursuance/passion I call Rose Color Co.
