Welcome
WELCOME TO ROSE COLOR CREATIVE.
I am sure this blog will change and grow over time, but for now it will be an exploration of design in the context of culture, history, and our daily lives. Today, however, I have to confront the necessary evil of introducing myself and this new project/pursuance/passion I call Rose Color Co.
MY NAME IS MARIAH ROSE SHALTRY AND I AM A VISUAL DESIGN ADDICT.
I love design. I love a lot of things actually (Michigan summers, french fries, cats, Jesus, etc.), but visual design is pretty close to the top of the list. I enjoy being a designer, I'm fascinated by the way we interact with design, and I appreciate people who design. I love learning about the ways our culture affects design, and even more than that I love learning about how design affects and shapes culture.
In fact, I love learning about and looking at design so much, that one day I woke up and had to ask myself:
"DO I LIKE LOOKING AT DESIGN MORE THAN I ACTUALLY LIKE DESIGNING?"
Okay, don't get me wrong, I love my job. The variety in my day-to-day work really thrills and inspires me (and you can see some of the time and love I put into my work here in my portfolio). But it's looking at other peoples work that honestly blows my mind. The way people are wired to create and problem-solve is seriously amazing to me.
So that's what this is. A place to show you what I create, to offer those creative services to whomever may need them, and to explore the idea of what design is and how it is truly more a part of your life than you probably even realize. I also want to share some perspective on the importance of visual design and why it matters to people (all people, not just "creative" people), and how we can all appreciate the thought that went into so much of what surrounds us on a daily basis.
HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES OF WHAT I WILL BE SHARING HERE:
Stories about interesting design around the world
Critical looks at specific designers and their styles and processes
Case studies of projects from current clients
Styles and aesthetics during certain times in history
Interesting places where different types of design (industrial, interior, graphic, UX, etc.) intersect.
Finally, I just want to mention that part of the reason I am doing this is to create conversation. The heart of creativity and problem-solving is communication & connection. I want to hear what you think, get your feedback, grab coffee and debate the implications of design in our world... ya know, chat.
So always feel free to drop a comment here, shoot me an email or hit me up on Facebook or Instagram.
