As a part of the scaled agile team at Priority Health, I built user flows, planned work within the SAFE framework, communicated with the development team, and design features. As a leader on the team I also helped plan and facilitate workshops for the design, development, data and product teams.

Workshops, product team involvement & stakeholder buy-in

Involving adjacent teams including product, development, analysts and data scientists allowed our design team to have an influence over what features and initiatives were prioritized. I personally led several workshops involving these teams to not only plan features but to ensure we were creating a consistent experience.

Architecture first

Experience mapping became a really important part of our process, as there were many varying pathways for users to take to accomplish varying tasks. This also allowed development a view into our thought process early on.

Creating page type structure

With so many pages, we created a page structure where there were essentially three levels of information. Progressive disclosure became a useful tool in communicating complicated healthcare information

Responsive, atomic approach

Since we were building a dashboard for so many different types of users with slight to extreme variations of needed information, an atomic approach made sense for this user portal.

Creating individual pieces that could be turned on and off for individual users allowed us to design one dashboard with movable pieces rather than 40+ dashboard for varying health insurance plan types.

This also allowed for a seamless responsive design as we designed for a very even distribution of desktop, mobile and tablet users.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Consistently auditing architecture to allow for additional features and updates over time, creating a scalable experience

  • Exploring various UX options to create an easily navigable experience of complicated and everchanging datasets.

  • Working with business analysts, product owners, project managers and development teams on feature creation with the scaled agile framework.

Projects & Features:

  • Flexible member portal dashboard

  • Accurate UIs to display varying healthcare plan information

  • Work with ADA compliance to make sure member app met all accessibility standards

  • Comprehensive onboarding UI

  • Leading several workshops to involve product and data teams in large feature creation and planning

Some pieces of this project may be confidential & won’t be displayed here. If you’d like to see more of my process and design contribution, let me know and we can set up a portfolio presentation.
